Module 4 – Evaluating Department Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Change: Tips from TECAID’s Evaluators
Description
TECAID Learning Modules
Interested in changing the culture in your engineering department to advance diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) for faculty, staff, and students but unsure how to go about it? Why reinvent the wheel when you can learn from TECAID leaders and participants. Transforming Engineering Culture to Advance Inclusion and Diversity (TECAID) is a NSF funded project (#1445076) to assist Mechanical Engineering change leaders in fostering a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive (DEI) academic engineering department culture.
The corner stone of these learning modules are webinars developed with intent to help make your DEI-focused culture change work more efficient and effective. A Certificate of Participation is available upon participation in each webinar. In addition to the above resources, we include additional resources as appropriate.
This webinar series is co-sponsored by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Committee on DEI.
Module 4 – Evaluating Department Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Change: Tips from TECAID’s Evaluators
In this 4th webinar (50:35) we introduce you to the TECAID Evaluators. They provide you with a framework for conducting your own DEI department change project/program evaluation. The TECAID Evaluators share ideas based on their own training and experience. Regardless of your project's funding base, this webinar will provide tools to help you get started.
Specifically, in this webinar the TECAID Evaluators answer the following questions:
- How do I get started with evaluating my DEI department culture change project (e.g., What kinds of questions should I ask?) (6:02)
- What data collection methods should I use, especially under low-resource conditions? (22:00)
- How do I use the data I collect? (30:55)
The webinar concludes with information about TECAID resources (49:02) available to help lead department DEI culture change.
