Description

The work of advancing diversity and inclusion has often been led by women, including women of color, and other minoritized groups on university campuses. Yet to transform culture more fully towards gender equity, we also can engage male-identified colleagues in working to make real progress. In this presentation, Rachel Bowen and Andreá Williams from The Women’s Place at The Ohio State University describe the Advocates & Allies initiative, an NSF-funded program for equipping men with the knowledge, awareness, and active strategies to promote greater gender equity. Bowen and Williams offer background on the structure, success and impact of Advocates & Allies for viewers interested in possibly initiating similar programs at their institutions.
